Vernacular Material + One Modular Format = Boundaryless Possibility
Matter is a series of sculptures that explores the agency and temperament of clay. By stepping back as a maker and moving away from craft traditions, the pieces are allowed to crack, form, and reveal their inherent materiality as they shrink through the various stages of transformation from clay to ceramics. This shrinkage unveils the intrinsic knowledge that every ceramicist carries, celebrating the tacit understanding of the craft and material by embracing its ‘faults’.
